    About the Owner
Owner Masami Takahashi renovated his home in Sengokuhara in 1984 and opened the Fuji Hakone Guest House, an inn for international exchange. The name of the inn comes from the State Guest House Akasaka Palace. With the ambition to "treat foreign tourists with care, as if they were state guests," the inn aims to be a guesthouse that "welcomes foreigners as friends and takes care of them as people," and will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2024. In recognition of its efforts to promote international mutual understanding and contribute to world peace through encounters, interactions, and learning, the inn was invited to represent Japan at the OECD Tourism Committee in 2005 and to represent Asia at the 7th European Tourism Summit, where it gave a presentation on its efforts. In 2009, the inn was appointed Visit Japan Ambassador by the Japan Tourism Agency of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. In 2018, we published "Why do foreign guests at Fuji Hakone Guesthouse become repeat visitors?" by Masami Takahashi. Please refer to the official website for details on the owner's background. https://www.fujihakoneguesthouse.com/History
